Australian Painter, 1871-1939, was an Australian artist. Evergood was born Myer Blashki in Melbourne, eleventh child of Philip Blashki, jeweller, and his wife Anna, nee Imergud. He studied for a while at the national gallery school under Bernard Hall between 1893 and 1895. He exhibited at the Victorian Artists Society, and the Royal Art Society, Sydney, before leaving for the United States in 1898. He worked principally in New York, with frequent visits to Europe, for about 30 years, establishing a good reputation as a painter. He changed his name to Miles Evergood while in the United States. Evergood returned to Australia about the end of 1931 and worked for a year in Queensland and became a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society. He then went to Sydney and Melbourne holding exhibitions of his work, and died of cancer in Melbourne on 3 January 1939. Lilly martin spencer
1822-1902 American painter of English birth. At the age of eight, she and her family emigrated to America, and after three years in New York they moved to Marietta, OH. In 1841 her father took her to Cincinnati, where she exhibited and received help from artists such as the animal painter James Henry Beard (1812-93). However, she refused the offer of the city's most important art patron, Nicholas Longworth, to assist in her art studies in Boston and Europe. Instead she stayed in Cincinnati and married an Englishman, Benjamin Spencer, by whom she had thirteen children, seven living to maturity.
Cornelis Hendriksz Vroom
(1591, Haarlem - buried September 16, 1661, Haarlem) was a Dutch Golden Age landscape painter. According to the RKD he was the son of the painter Hendrick Cornelisz Vroom, the older brother of Frederick and Jacob, and the father of the painter Jacob Cornelisz Vroom.[1] He became a member of the Haarlem Guild of St. Luke in 1634. According to Houbraken in 1718, who repeated a list of names from Theodorus Schrevelius's 1648 book on Haarlem called Harlemias, he was the son of Hendrick Cornelisz Vroom and a good landscape painter of Haarlem along with "Joh. Jakobsz.", who was in Italy for many years, "Nicol. Zuyker", Gerrit Claesz Bleker, Salomon van Ruysdael, and Reyer van Blommendael.
Arnoldus Bloemers
born at Amsterdam in 1792, painted flowers, fruit, and animals. He was instructed by Antonie Piera, but principally imitated Van Huijsum. He died at the Hague in 1844. The Rotterdam Gallery has a flower-piece by him.
